Westmoreland County prosecutors told a jury Tuesday that a killing nearly two years ago on the railroad tracks in Manor was done in cold blood. In his opening arguments to jurors, District Attorney John Peck said Jason Maple, 26, planned to execute a man he believed had ransacked his girlfriend's apartment and had threatened to rape her.

Penn-Trafford principal gets administrative post
A Penn-Trafford assistant principal has been promoted to an administrative position. Matthew Harris, who is assistant principal at Harrison Park and Level Green elementary schools, was unanimously appointed director of support services, effective June 1.
