Evelyn Ference
Of Trafford

A retired music teacher for Trafford and Franklin Regional school districts, died June 4, 2008. She was 91.

Mrs. Ference was born Aug. 13, 1916, to Louis and Doris Schopp Jenets. A Duquesne University graduate with a degree in music, she played with many big bands in the Pittsburgh area during and after college. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Ference was a music teacher for Trafford School District for six years and Franklin Regional School District for 34 years.

She was a member of St. Regis Church in Trafford, where she was the organist for 35 years. Mrs. Ference was a member of the Trafford and Level Green Senior Citizens, Alley-West Senior Citizens, the Holy Spirit Golden Agers in West Mifflin.

A former member of the Trafford American Legion Post 331, she also was a member of the former Trafford Women's Club.

She is survived by her brother, James Jenets; daughter, Kathleen (and husband, George) Kolvalcik; grandson, Michael Kovalcik and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Ference; her sister, Theresa Bohince; and her parents.

Friends were received at Dobrinick Funeral Home, Inc., Trafford. A funeral Mass was in St. Regis Church, Trafford. Entombment followed in Twin Valley Memorial Park Masoleum, Delmont.

Stella Thompson
Church volunteer

Stella Zemleduck Thompson of Trafford, a woman who enjoyed making pierogies and helping out in other ways at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Wilmerding, died June 3, 2008. She was 82.

Mrs. Zemleduck is survived by her son, Dennis Thompson; stepdaughter, Denise Matthews; sisters, Mary Hegland and Ann Grossman; her brothers, Steve Zemleduck, Paul Zemleduck and John Zemleduck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Barbara Wekluk Zemleduck; husband, Joseph Thompson; and sister, Mildred Gligonic.

Friends were received at Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., Wilmerding, where a funeral service took place followed by Divine Liturgy in SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Margaret Comito
Great-grandmother

Margaret M. Comito of Trafford died June 2, 2008. She was 88.

She is survived by her husband, John Comito Sr.; daughters, Cecelia Lentz (and husband, Richard Nagle), Margaret "Marty" (and Joe) Bianco, Maria Ridinger (and fiance Michael Walker); sons, John "Coodie" (and wife, Linda) Comito Jr., Ralph (and Lorraine) Comito; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, and her parents, Paul and Maria Sleight Marcoz.

Friends were received at John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home, Inc., Trafford, where a blessing service was held. Interment followed in Restland-Lincoln Memorial Park, Monroeville.

Helen Filus
Grandmother

Helen M. (Perehinec) Filus of East Pittsburgh died June 6, 2008. She was 84.

Born Oct. 9, 1923, in Gallitzin, she is the daughter of the late Mark and Mary (Cebula) Perehinec.

She is survived by her sons, William (and wife, Carol) of North Huntingdon, Robert (and Deborah) of North Braddock and Donald (and Lauren) of Trafford; a daughter, Beverly (and husband, James) Marcinizyn of Trafford; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Filus; three brothers; two sisters; and her parents.

Friends were received at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home. Interment followed at Restland Memorial Park.

Corinne Blasko
Retired waitress

Corinne (Fleming) Blasko, formerly of Irwin, died June 6, 2008, in the St. Anne Home, Greensburg. She was 78.

Mrs. Blasko was born May 29, 1930, in Pitcairn to the late Andrew and Margaret (Smeltz) Fleming.

Prior to retirement, she was employed as a waitress for the former Adams House. She was also a member of Church of The Immaculate Conception of Irwin.

She is survived by her daughters, Marsha (and husband, Anthony) Berardo of Greensburg, Karen (and Robert) Stewart of North Huntingdon and Bonnie (and Vince) Delconte of Pittsburgh; a son, Michael (and wife, Ellen) Blasko of Wendel; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Larry Fleming of North Huntingdon and Michael Fleming of Harrison City; a sister, Shirley Jancisin of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Domenic Delconte; two sisters; a brother; and her parents.

Private arrangements were handled by John F. Ott Funeral Home Inc.

Carol Sisco
Francis Hospital retiree

Carol H. (Brown) Sisco of Turtle Creek, a retired employee of St. Francis Hospital MH/MR, died June 8, 2008. She was 60.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (and wife, Lisa) Sisco of Shaler and Christopher Sisco of Trafford; one granddaughter, Alysia; a sister, Joyce DiCaprio of North Versailles; brothers, Bill (and Lynn) Brown of East McKeesport and Thomas Brown of Trafford; and nieces and nephews.

Friends were received at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home, Turtle Creek/ Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave. at James Street, Turtle Creek, where a service was held.
