Anna M. Ruschak
Longtime hostess of Plaza Restaurant

Anna M. Ruschak, 86, of Penn Township, formerly of Turtle Creek and North Versailles, died June 15, 2008.

Born Dec. 30, 1921 in Lettopalena, Italy, she was the daughter of Charles and Josephine DeVitis Merlino. Mrs. Ruschak was a waitress and hostess for the Plaza Restaurant in Forest Hills for many years.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Meehan; son, Stephen (Ingrid) Ruschak; sisters, Mary Sambuco and Lucy Koricich; and two grandchildren, Laura and Bridget.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Ruschak; and brother, James Merlino.

Friends were received at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., Murrysville, where a funeral service took place. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville. Memorials donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

William McGuire
WWII veteran

William M. McGuire, 82, of Turtle Creek died June 22, 2008.

A World War II Navy veteran, Mr. McGuire was also a retired employee of the Purchasing Department of Allegheny County. His favorite pastime was traveling the United States on Amtrak trains.

Surviving are children, Patricia Zoretich and her husband, Thomas, of Turtle Creek, Teri Loadman and her husband, Michael, of Penn Township and Shirley Freto of Maryland; grandchildren, Andrew Zoretich, Jenna and Calla Loadman and Tony and David Freto; and a sister, Clara Smith of Monroeville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Dugan) McGuire; two brothers; and a sister.

Arrangements were made by Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home, Turtle Creek Chapel, Monroeville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in St. Colman Church. Interment with military honors will be at Good Shepherd Cemetery.

Doris Jacobs
Penn Township resident

Doris L. (McGraw) Smith Jacobs, 93, of Penn Township died June 19, 2008.

Born Dec. 30, 1914, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Nellie (Jobes) McGraw.

Mrs. Jacobs was a member and past president of Pithian Sisters-Degree of Honor and a member of Irwin Ladies Auxiliary. She often attended and played cards at Oak Hollow Senior Citizens Center in North Huntingdon.

Surviving are children, Jeanne Pricener and her husband, Edward, of Irwin, who cared for Mrs. Jacobs for the past 10 years and with whom she resided, Doris Sisley and her husband, Eugene, of New Alexandria and Sherwood Smith and his wife, Gail, of Dravosburg; 10 grandchildren; a granddaughter, Debbie Kandahari, whom Mrs. Jacobs raised; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Sherwood McGraw of New York; and a niece and Goddaughter, Lynn Hughes and her husband, David, of Blasdell, N.Y.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Smith; second husband, Roger Jacobs; a son, Francis McGraw; and a brother.

Friends were received at Joseph F. Ott Funeral Home Inc. A service was in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park North Huntingdon.
