Sports shorts: Rasky named to WPIAL All-Star team

The WPIAL Baseball Coaches Association announced the teams for its fifth annual All-Star games.

The games are scheduled for June 14 at Burkett Field in Robinson Township.

Three local players were selected to the Quad A team. Franklin Regional's Seve Franceshelli and Mike Pelekanos and Penn-Trafford's Chris Rasky will play in the prestigious contest.

The first game of the doubleheader will start at 5 p.m. and will pit the WPIAL Class A All-Stars versus the WPIAL Class AA All-Stars.

The second game will start at approximately 8 p.m. and will match the WPIAL Class AAA All-Stars against the WPIAL Class AAAA All-Stars.

Seventy-six players will participate in the doubleheader, representing 58 schools.

Volleyball camp

Penn-Trafford volleyball will host a camp this summer for girls and boys currently in the fifth and sixth grades.

The camp will run from June 2 to 4 in the Penn-Trafford High School gym. Girls camps will be from 9 to 11 a.m., and boys will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Senior games

The Pittsburgh Senior Games, sponsored by the Citiparks Senior Interests Program, will be held from June 1 to June 16 at various sites in the Pittsburgh area.

Age divisions are 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84 and 85-and-older.

Events include archery, basketball shooting, boccie, bowling, darts, 5K run, nine-hole golf, horseshoes, kooshball, pool, shuffleboard, table tennis, track and field, and lawn bowling.

The registration fee for the Citiparks Senior Games is $2, which covers the cost of all events except bowling, golf and the 5K.

Deadline for registration is May 23.
